OGS Library Open House to Celebrating Family History Month 1 September 2004 The Ohio Genealogical Society Library, 713 South Main Street, Mansfield, will open its doors to the public for a free-of-charge day of education and research on Saturday, October 2nd, 2004, from 9:00am to 5:00pm. There will be tours of the library's holdings and classes on beginning genealogy. Sessions are scheduled to show visitors how to use our new online databases, Heritage Quest Online, Ancestry.com, and the New England Historic Genealogical Society indexes. Volunteers will help you find your family in the census records and will be available for hands-on consultation. Did you know, for example, that Society members can utilize US census images 1790 through 1930 from their home computers? OGS and other genealogical and historical groups will offer many local and Ohio history displays at this event. There will be some nice door prizes and our entertainment will be by the Ohio Heartland Storytellers. All visitors are welcome. Reservations are not required. More information on the Ohio Genealogical Society may be found at http://www.ogs.org. If your group would like to have a table display at the Family History Open House, please call OGS at 419-756-7294 to make arrangements. Please join us in celebrating the heritage of our ancestors as we start October, designated each year as "Family History Month." |
