Ohio Genealogical Society Appoints Amy Giroux as Webmaster

The Ohio Genealogical Society has appointed a new webmaster to maintain its website at www.ogs.org. She is Amy Larner Giroux, CG, CGL, a genealogical researcher, lecturer and writer—and an experienced webmaster for genealogical organizations.

“I am pleased that OGS will experience a relatively seamless transition from Amy to Amy as we change webmasters. Amy Johnson Crow has created a good website and has maintained it for several years,” Paul Morehouse, OGS president, said in announcing the appointment. “We look forward to Amy Giroux maintaining that standard.”

“As a member of the selection committee to appoint a new webmaster, it was a pleasure to see someone of the caliber of Amy Giroux applying for the OGS webmaster's position,” said Eric Johnson, OGS Trustee and Publications Chair. “With her outstanding background in genealogy and in computer technology, she has the expertise to transform our website into a medium that can greatly benefit the genealogical community, our society, and our membership.”

One of the on-going goals for the OGS website is to develop unique databases for research by society members. “Amy Crow was able to add the many county data bases that are currently on the site. We look forward to our chapters continuing to submit additional databases to Amy Giroux to expand the offerings of the website for our members.”

President Morehouse continued, “As a result of our discussions with Amy Giroux, I know that she has many good ideas about continuing the development of our website, and I expect that our members will notice a number of subtle changes in the site. Member submissions of data bases, in particular, are always welcome and should be sent to OGS in care of Publications Chair Eric Johnson.”

Amy is an award-winning author with articles published in the National Genealogical Society Quarterly, the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society Record, The Genealogist, and the Association of Professional Genealogists Quarterly. She is a past Trustee for the Board for Certification of Genealogists (BCG) and a past Director of the Florida State Genealogical Society.
Amy has a B.S.E.T. (Computer Technology) and 20 years experience in software development and project management.

She is the webmaster for the Board for Certification of Genealogists, the Association of Professional Genealogists, and the International Society for British Genealogy and Family History.
